The high season (June to August)

During the peak summer months, Ksamil is at its absolute loudest, brightest, and busiest. The Ionian Sea is perfectly warm, the beach clubs are operating at 100% capacity, and the town is filled with a high-energy holiday buzz.
The pros:
Flawless beach weather: Guaranteed daily sunshine with hot temperatures perfect for swimming and sunbathing.
Everything is open: Every single beach club, island-hopping boat tour, rooftop bar, and seafood restaurant is open late.
Vibrant nightlife: If you love open-air beach parties, jet ski rentals, and a lively atmosphere, this is your peak time.
The cons:
The crowds: Ksamil’s beaches are small. In July and August, almost every square inch of sand is tightly packed with sunbeds.
Peak prices: Accommodation and private sunbed rentals hit their absolute highest rates of the year.

The shoulder season (May & September)
If you ask Max and me, this is the best time to visit Ksamil, hands down.
We visited during the shoulder season in early May, and it was incredible. The heavy summer crowds hadn't arrived yet, meaning we could walk onto the beaches and actually see the beautiful white sand. While the water can be a tiny bit refreshing in May, it is still sunny and warm enough to swim, sunbathe, and enjoy boat trips without the suffocating heat or the premium price tags.
Do not underestimate the Mediterranean sun, even in the cooler shoulder months! We made a massive mistake when we went kayaking to the Ksamil Islands. Because of the cool sea breeze, we didn't feel it was that hot and skipped the sunscreen. Big mistake. We got sunburned like never before and spent three painful, miserable weeks recovering. The pros:
Cheaper stays: Boutique hotels and guesthouses slash their prices significantly compared to July and August.

Local warmth: Because the town isn't overrun yet, local business owners have more time to chat, share recommendations, and offer authentic Albanian hospitality.
The cons:
Unpredictable rain: You might get an occasional overcast or rainy day, especially in early May.
Slightly chilly evenings: You will definitely want to pack a light jacket or sweater for outdoor dinners by the sea.
Limited beach entertainment: Because the shoulder season is all about prepping for summer or winding down, not all beach clubs will be open or operating at full capacity. You might notice some spots still clearing up or setting up their loungers, and certain music venues or boat tours won't be running on full schedules yet.
The off-season (October to April)

Once October rolls around, Ksamil undergoes a dramatic transformation. The tourists disappear, the music stops, and the town returns to a sleepy, peaceful fishing village. If you are a slow traveller, a writer, or a digital nomad looking for cheap coastal living, this is a beautiful time to visit.
Take advantage of the quiet winter months to island hop! You can easily catch a ferry from nearby Sarandë over to Corfu, Greece. While this trip is beautiful in any season, visiting Corfu's Venetian old town during the off-season means you can explore its historic streets completely free of the massive summer cruise ship crowds. Just keep in mind that winter ferry schedules usually drop to once a day, so it’s best to plan a cosy overnight stay rather than a rushed day trip.
