6 Things You Must Know Before Booking a Hotel in Ksamil, Albania

If you’re planning a trip to the beautiful Albanian Riviera, choosing where to stay in Ksamil is easily your biggest make-or-break decision. While you’ll spend most of your day soaking up the sun, getting a bad night's sleep or getting hit with surprise fees can completely ruin the vibe.
After navigating the local streets and testing the waters ourselves, here are six crucial insider tips we learned from experience so you can book with absolute confidence.
1. Beachfront location vs the noise tradeoff
Ksamil is compact and highly walkable, but location dictates your entire experience. Booking a beachfront hotel guarantees instant access to the turquoise water and iconic sunset views.
However, there is a catch: the main strip is a nightlife hub. If you want to step out of bed onto the sand, you'll be close to the action, but you have to accept that sound travels incredibly well here, and bass lines can echo late into the night, sometimes until the early hours of the morning.
2. Check recent reviews, especially for club noise
Speaking of noise, this caught us off guard! During the peak summer high season, beach bars and open-air clubs blast loud music until 1:00 AM or 2:00 AM.
If you are a light sleeper, travelling with kids, or simply value your peace, do not rely on a hotel's map location alone. Filter the reviews on booking platforms for keywords like “noise”, “club”, or “loud” before hitting reserve.
Keep in mind that timing is everything. Because Max and I visited during the shoulder season in early May, the beach clubs weren't operating at full capacity yet. It wasn't loud enough to impact our trip, but if you're booking for July or August, checking those reviews is a must!

3. The sneaky cost of sunbed & beach lounger fees
This is the single most important tip that saves travellers the most money. In Ksamil, almost every square inch of sand is privately managed. Even if you just want to lay down your towel on the beach, you will be asked to pay for a sunbed rental, which can add up incredibly fast depending on the spot.
Always look for beachfront hotels that explicitly include private beach access with free loungers and umbrellas for guests. Renting these separately on popular public beaches can easily set you back €15 to €30 a day, so finding a stay that bundles them in is an effortless way to keep your trip on budget!
Some beachfront hotels offer loungers and umbrellas at no extra cost, which is a big win. Others may have swings or loungers on-site, so you don’t need to rent anything at all. Paying a slightly higher nightly rate for a hotel with dedicated beds will actually save you money overall. Always double-check the fine print or message the host to confirm if loungers are genuinely included.
4. Secure private on-site parking is a must

Renting a car is something we highly recommend. 5. Don't trust the edited listing photos
Wide-angle lenses and heavy filters can make a tiny room look like an expansive luxury resort. When researching, after browsing the gorgeously staged gallery photos, jump straight to recent reviews from the last 30 to 60 days. Look for consistency regarding cleanliness, staff friendliness, functioning air conditioning (crucial during Albanian heatwaves), and whether recent guests mention that the property actually looks like its pictures.
6. Free breakfast is a major morning time-saver
Ksamil has an incredible food scene, but traditional breakfast cafes opening early are surprisingly scarce. Booking a hotel with breakfast included ensures you get a head start on the day and saves you the daily effort of figuring out where to eat. You can eat, grab your gear, and claim the best spots on the beach before the crowds arrive from Saranda.
